The mission of Koinoneo is to support vulnerable individuals in communities throughout the Dominican Republic.  Our primary focus is the community of Jaibon, as that is our home base.

 

Jaibón is a municipal district of the municipality of Laguna Salada, located northwest in the Valverde Province of the Dominican Republic.  Jaibon is a rural community of 14,000 citizens, located approximately 1 hour from the second largest city in the Dominican Republic, Santiago. Most of the citizens of Jaibon are struggling to survive. Because this is a rural community, there are very few opportunities for employment or education. The opportunities for employment and higher education are found in the larger cities, unfortunately most people from Jaibon do not have adequate funds or means for transportation to those locations.  With the high unemployment rate and the lack of income for many families, there are numerous families living in poverty.  Those who are at greatest risk, as in most impoverished communities throughout the world, are the elderly and the children. Through this outreach ministry, our organization will be able to transform these struggling communities and give support to those in need.
